Trefann Court is a community with immense history that went on to shape how neighbourhood revitalization would be integrated in Toronto’s areas. In the early 1970s, Trefann Court was to be demolished for the erection of a serious of high-rise housing projects. Eventually, City Hall was challenged and the plan was overthrown; instead Trefann Court sparked an urban renewal project that has been used all over the city to this day, most notably the neighbourhood of St. Lawrence. Though the neighbourhood boundaries are not that large, residents have many places to go that are in walking distance. For shopping, the famous St. Lawrence Market is just a short walk away, as is the Distillery District. For families there are countless public schools in the area. For those looking for recreation options, cyclists are minutes away from the Lower Don Bikeway (which connects to Toronto’s waterfront).
